Grand River

The Grand River is the largest watershed in southern Ontario, flowing approximately 300km from its source near Dundalk to Lake Erie at Port Maitland.

It was designated a Canadian Heritage River in 1994 due to its rich cultural history and natural beauty. It is also known for its recreational activities, including paddling, fishing and various conservation areas managed by the Grand River Conservation Authority. Cities along its path include Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge and Brantford in addition to numerous smaller communities.

The Grand River Conservation Authority manages the watershed’s water quality, flood control, and environmental health.
